Fudge Brownies

Happy New Year! After all the holiday festivities are over I thought I’d start with some light baking, nothing very demanding and exhausting so I decided to go to back to basics and a little more – Fudge Brownies. Brownies are tough bars to crack as I’ve mentioned earlier. Everyone has a different version and definition to it so you never know who you will please with them.

I’ve made the regular brownies more than a billion times and they are nice and chewy and have this great moistness to them. I decided it was time to explore the fudgy brownies, a bit tricky on the baking time but worth a try. I use this recipe if i want to make a base for something and it works very well. You can also have it by itself and it’s just as nice.

Ingredients:
1/2 C butter (don’t use oil for this, you will lose out on the fudginess
1/2 C cocoa
2 C sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
4 eggs
1 C flour
1/2 C chopped walnuts

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 170 C
  2. Melt butter and cocoa in a small pan, once melted remove from heat and add in sugar and vanilla
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating after every addition
  4. Finally add the flour and walnuts and stir
  5. Spread in an 8″ square tin and bake for 30 mins until it feels dry on the top
